James D. Stewart, 86 | |
Muncie - Muncie - James D. Stewart, 86, 5508 N. Austin Drive,
died Thursday in Ball Memorial Hospital. Mr. Stewart, who was born in Muncie, graduated from Central High School and attended Ball State University. He lived in the Muncie-Yorktown area his entire life. He served in the Army during World War II and was a florist for more than 55 years. He owned and operated Jim Stewart's Flower Shop from 1962 until 1987. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and the Elks Lodge 245. |
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Lois Bullock; a son,
Dan Stewart; four daughters, Sharon Stewart, Anne Stewart (husband: Joe
Pellegrino), Jane Stewart (husband: Paul Kaplan) and Susan Stewart, and eight
grandchildren. Three brothers are deceased. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Meeks Mortuary. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling will be 5-8 p.m. today and an hour before services Saturday at the mortuary. |

![]() Born in Yorktown on August 26, 1921, she was the valedictorian of Yorktown High School class of 1939 and attended Ball State University. Lois worked at Jim Stewarts Flower Shop for 39 years with her husband, Jim and later their daughter, Susan. She specialized in wedding flowers. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Muncie, the Muncie Elks, and a cheerful member of the Friends of Yesteryear. She is survived be a son, Daniel Stewart (wife: Catharine) of Yorktown; four daughters, Sharon Stewart of Yorktown, |
Anne Stewart (husband: Joseph Pellegrino) of Harrisonburg, Virginia,
Janet Stewart (husband: Paul Kaplan) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and
Susan Stewart of Muncie. She is also survived by a sister, Grace
Miller (husband: Earl) of Corona Del Mar, California; and her eight
grandchildren, Jacelyn and Brian Waite, Erin and John Stewart, Ben and
Jon Kaplan and Alexander and Hannah Pellegrino. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James D. Stewart; her parents, John and Leona Pearl Funkhouser Bullock; and her sister, Helen Cowell. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Gant Funeral Home, Yorktown. Burial will follow in the Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. |
