Van Gordon Razor, 1965 New Castle Chrysler High School grad     Van Gordon Razor, 55, of New Castle died unexpectedly Wednesday at Henry County Memorial Hospital.     He was a 1965 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School and attended Ball State University. He was employed at New Castle Chrysler High School Vocational Program as a custodian. He had previously been employed with M and W Distributors/Meadow Gold in New Castle. He was a member of Moose Lodge. He was born Feb. 3, 1947, in New Castle, a son of Merle C. and Wanita F. VanGordon Razor.     In addition to his mother of New Castle, he is |
survived by his wife,
the former Anita Clark, whom he married in 1986; several cousins including Jane
Gorman, Angalee Shepherd, Laura Ann Shockley, David Kline, Jenny Ferguson, Mile
Burkhart, Jimmy Clay and Scott Martin; his father-in-law, Fred Clark of New
Castle; several aunts and uncles including Elsie Kline, Gene Pavy, June Burkhart,
Orville and Juanita Martin.     He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Del in 1974; his father, in March 2002; and several aunts and uncles.     Services are 7 p.m. Friday at Hinse6-Brown Funeral Service with the Rev. Mark Martin officiating. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Harry J. Burkhart, 73, of New Castle died
Saturday in Ball Memorial Hospital at Muncie. A lifelong New Castle resident, he graduated from New Castle High School in 1945. He was the vice president of his senior class and received his engineering degree from Scranton, Pa. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and following the war, he played semi pro-baseball for West Point. After his discharge, he played semi-pro baseball for several city leagues. He retired from Cinergy Corp. after 40 years as an electrical engineer. He was a member of First Baptist Church of New Castle, Friends of the Library, American Legion Post 137, the Ambassador Club with New Castle Henry County Chamber of Commerce and Henry County Art Association, where he had served as the capital campaign committee chairperson for the art center. He was an avid painter and member of the Wilbur Wright Birthplace Memorial. He was born Aug. 30, 1927, in New Castle, |
a son of Harry G. and Lois Jean Six Burkhart. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former June M. Razor; a son, Michael N. of New Castle; a sister, Doris (husband: Sam) Hackett of Ventura, Calif.; cousins, Ronnie (wife: Jane) Smith of New Castle, Linda (husband: Mike) Leventhal of Richmond; a nephew, James M. Clay of Middletown, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Juanita (husband: Orville) Martin of Middletown, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Merle (wife: Waneta) Razor of New Castle; a sister-in-law, Laquetta Razor of Dayton, Ohio; and several other nieces and nephews. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with the Revs. Jack Hannum and Kenneth E. Nicola officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery with military graveside rites by American Legion and VFW. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Harry J. Burkhart Art Scholarship in care of the Henry County Community Foundation with envelopes provided at the funeral home.

New Castle resident Kenneth Neil Razor, 63,
Monticello, Ky., died Tuesday at his home
after a long extended illness. Mr. Razor, who was born in Owingsville, Ky., graduated from New Castle High School in 1951. He was a Marine Corp. veteran of the Korean War, and he worked at in security at Chrysler Corp. for 28 years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of Security Union Local 133, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Eagles. He was a life-member of Disabled American Veterans. Born June 9, 1933; in Owingsville, Ky.; he was a son of the late Chester and Laura Warren Razor. He had lived in Monticello since retirement. of Miamisburg, Ohio Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service. The Rev. Gene Bennett will officiate services. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery, Westlawn Addition, with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars 1282 and American Legion 137.
