MIDDLETOWN, Ind., June 7.
Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Opal Razor, to
Leslie Scrogham, which was solemnized Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the
Springport Christian church in the presence of a few relatives and friends. The Rev. Dewey Hole, pastor of the church, read the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher |
Razor of
near Springport, and the bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Goldie Scrogham, and is
owner of a jewelry store and repair shop in Middletown. Both Mr. and Mrs. Scrogham are graduates of the Mt. Summit high school. For the present they are making their home with the bride's parents, but woll occupy the W. F. Becker property, east of town, in a few days. |

Mrs. Opal Scrogham, 59, Springport,
died shortly after noon Sunday at Indiana University
Medical Center, Indianapolis after an illness of 15
weeks. Born 14 February 1916, she was the daughter of Chris and Ida Spence Razor. She had lived in the Springport area most of her life and was a Licensed practical nurse, graduating from Ball Hospital School of Practical Nursing. An Employ of Henry County Memorial Hospital for about 12 years, she had been employed the past four years at Heritage House Convalescent Center. She was a member of Springport Christian Church and Indiana Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses. Surviving are her husband, Leslie A. Sr.; three daughters, Mrs. John W. (Beverly Ann) Hershman of Lebanon, Mrs. Merrill (Carolyn) Coffin of Mooreland |
and Miss Rachel Scrogham,
at home; three sons, Harry R. of Mt. Summit, Leslie A.
Jr. of Plainfield, Phillip K. Scrogham of Fortville;
11 grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Lillian Hole of
Muncie, Mrs. Carrie Bullock of New Castle, Mrs. Elmer
(Veda) Rogers and Mrs. David (Mary Jane) French both of
Springport, Mrs. Robert (Christine) Garner of Spiceland
and Mrs. Charles (Naomi) Pugsley of Yorktown; a brother,
Bill Razor, Wayne, Mich.; several nieces and nephews,
including Mrs. Pam Lamb of New Castle who her home with
the Scroghams for many years. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Macer Funeral Home with Rev. John Bolen officiating. Burial will be in Springport Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday. The family will receive callers from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. |

Leslie A. Scrogham, 69, a resident
of Frankfort and formerly of Springport, died Tuesday
afternoon in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Merrill
(Carolyn) Coffin, R. 1 Mooreland, Indiana. His death
followed a brief illness. Other survivors include another daughter, Rachel Scrogham of Lebanon; three sons, Harry of Mt. Summit Leslie A. Jr. of Pendleton and Phillip of Fortville; 12 Grandchildren; and three step grand children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Scrogham, in 1976; and a daughter, Beverly Hershman. He was born Feb. 15, 1916, in Henry County, the son of Harry and Goldie (Ritchie) Scrogham. He resided in Springport most of his life, moving to Frankfort in 1980. He was a toolmaker for Warner Gear in Muncie and AVCO in Richmond. He was associated at the time of his death, |
with Ellis
Jewlers in Frankfort as a clock repairman.
He was a member of
First Christian Church in Frankfort, Delaware Lodge 46
F&AM, Fort Wayne Valley of Scottish Rite,
MuratShrine in Idianapolis, Moose Lodge in Muncie,
American Watchmakers Institute and Indiana Chapter 18 of
the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors.
Services will be at 1: 30 p.m. Friday in Macer-Hall-Pasco Funeral Home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Springport. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where the family will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Delaware Masonic Lodge 46 will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. member. Services for Harry R. Scrogham Sr., 61, of 705 S. Walnut St., Mount Summit, are 10 a.m. Thursday at Springport Christian Church with the Revs. J. Rollin Hole and David Siebenaler officiating. He died Sunday afternoon at his residence following an extended illness. A 1954 graduate of Mount Summit High School, Mr. Scrogham was employed with AT&T as an installer/technician for several years. He was a life member of the Communications Workers of America and a member of the American Legion, Eagles and Moose lodges and the Springport Christian Church. He was born July 26, 1936, in Muncie, the son of the late Leslie A. Sr. and Opal Razor Scrogham. of Mishawaka died Tuesday at St. Joseph's
Medical Center in South Bend following
complications of an extended illness. Mr. Scrogham grew up in Mount Summit and was a 1987 graduate of Tri High School. He was a member of the Mount Summit Christian Church. Beverly Ann Scrogham
Hershman, 45, a resident of Lebanon, died Monday
evening in Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis. She
had been in ill health for several years. She was born May 25,1939, in Muncie, the daughter of Leslie Sr. and the late Opal Razor Scrogham. She was married Aug. 21, 1966, in Henry County to John W. Hershman. Surviving are her husband; her father, who resides in Frankfort; three brothers, Leslie Scrogham Jr. of rural Fortville, Phillip Scrogham of Fortville and Harry Scrogham of Mt. Summit; two sisters, Mrs. Merrill (Carolyn) Coffin of Mooreland and Rachel Scrogham of Lebanon; several nieces and nephews. |
She was a member of the
Elizaville Baptist Church and was treasurer of the
church at the time of her death. She was a
graduate of Mt. Summit High School and Ball State
University with a bachelor's degree in elementary
education. She also received a master's degree in
guidance counseling. She had taught in New
Castle, Frankfort and in Lebanon since 1969, and
had been a counselor in the middle school and high
school. She and her husband were active in helping
handicapped people in Lebanon. Services will be at the Russell and Hitch Funeral Home in Lebanon at l0: 30 a.m. Friday with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon. Friends after 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. |

Rachel Joyce Scrogham, age 68, long time Henry County resident,
passed away Sunday evening. She was born, October 6, 1940 in Muncie, IN, a daughter of the late, Leslie A. and Opal (Razor) Scrogham. She had worked for twenty years at Main Street Enterprises in Lebanon, IN. She was a member of the Springport Christian Church. She is survived by a sister, Carolyn (husband: Merrill) Coffin of Mooreland, IN; two brothers: Leslie A. (wife: Sandi) Scrogham, Jr. of Fortville, IN and Phillip (wife: Gwen) Scrogham of Fortville, IN; several nieces, nephews and cousins; also several grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Beverly Hershman; a brother, Harry Scrogham; and two nephews. |
Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. today at Macer-Hall
Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30
A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Gary
McCutcheon officiating. Burial will follow at
